What does an Occupational Therapist do?
Occupational therapists help children build the everyday skills they need to learn, play and participate in their world with confidence.
At GROW Paediatrics, our team supports children from birth to 8 years by
- Developing fine motor and hand skills
- Supporting sensory processing and regulation
- Building independence in self-care (toileting, dressing, feeding)
- Improving play, attention and emotional regulation
- Helping children engage meaningfully at home, school and in the community
Everything we do is tailored to your child’s individual needs so they can grow, explore and thrive in their daily routines
Our Approach
Our occupational therapists work closely with families to create individualised intervention plans that are both practical and engaging. Using evidence-based approaches, we support children to build their skills in a way that feels safe, playful and achievable.
We focus on increasing participation—helping children join in, feel confident, and develop the skills they need for everyday life.

What to expect
When you work with our occupational therapists, you can expect a warm, child-led approach that prioritises trust, comfort and meaningful progress. We begin by understanding your child’s strengths, challenges and daily routines so therapy feels purposeful and positive.
Sessions may include play-based activities, sensory strategies, motor skill development, and practical support for everyday tasks—always guided by your child’s needs and interests.
We keep you involved throughout, offering strategies you can use at home and collaborating with other therapists, educators and health professionals. Our goal is to help your child feel capable, confident and supported in all the spaces they live, learn and play.
