At GROW, assessment is never a checkbox.
It forms the foundations of everything we do.
We offer a range of formal and informal assessments across speech and language, feeding and swallowing, occupational therapy, and development more broadly. Our assessments are designed to support diagnosis, funding applications, and reporting, and just as importantly, to guide meaningful, targeted intervention.
We don’t hand families a score sheet and send them home. Every assessment is underpinned by clinical reasoning, whole-child thinking, and genuine curiosity about what’s actually going on for that child and that family. Numbers only tell part of the story and at GROW we will always support the deeper interpretation and understanding behind the assessments conducted.

Developmental Screeners
Our Developmental Screener is a 45-minute session designed to provide a snapshot of your child’s development and help guide next steps with clarity and confidence.
During the session, one of our experienced clinicians will observe and assess key areas of development such as communication, play, motor skills, regulation, feeding and early learning. Following the screener, families receive a brief summary report outlining strengths, areas for support and clear recommendations for what to do next.
This service is ideal for parents who:
- Are unsure whether their child’s development is on track
- Have early concerns but are not ready for a full assessment
- Want professional guidance before seeking ongoing therapy
- Need direction around referrals or support options
Our goal is to provide reassurance, practical advice and a clear pathway forward, without overwhelm.
Developmental Assessments:
Our allied health team provides assessments tailored to your child’s stage of development. These may include:
- Communication & speech-language assessments
- Fine and gross motor developmental assessments
- Feeding, mealtime & oral–motor assessments
- Social-emotional and behavioural assessments
- Sensory processing assessments
- School readiness & early play assessments
Developmental assessments help families understand where their child is thriving and where extra supports may help. Each assessment includes a family-friendly report with recommendations for home, childcare, preschool or school.
