Or all the answers

What is Early Support?
Early support means strengthening development as concerns first emerge — or even before they become challenging.
It’s not about labelling.
It’s not about rushing into therapy.
And it’s not about “fixing” your child.
It’s about:
- Building skills
- Supporting confidence
- Making daily routines feel calmer and more manageable
- Helping families feel supported and understood
Sometimes support is short-term and gentle.
Sometimes it’s more ongoing.
Either way, we work at your child’s pace — and always alongside you.
Supporting Development from Birth
We work with children from the very beginning – including babies with feeding challenges, sleep concerns or medical complexities – right through to older children navigating learning, communication and independence.
Our team includes experienced speech pathologists, occupational therapists and clinicians with deep knowledge in complex and medical needs.
Support is always individualised.
No two children – or families – are the same.
We support development across everyday life, including:
FAQs for Families
Getting Started
Do I need a referral to access services at GROW Paediatrics?
No. Families are welcome to contact us directly — a referral is not required. Referrals from GPs, paediatricians, educators or other therapists are also welcome, but not essential to get started.
What ages do you support?
We support children from birth through to early adulthood, with a strong focus on the early years when development is rapidly changing and early support can make a meaningful difference.
What if I’m not sure whether my child needs support?
That’s very common. You don’t need to be certain or have a clear concern to reach out. Many families contact us because something doesn’t feel quite right, or they’d like reassurance or guidance. Our role is to help you understand your child and explore whether support would be helpful.
Do I need a diagnosis before booking?
No. A diagnosis is not required. We support children based on their individual needs, strengths and development.
Early Support & Our Approach
What does early support actually mean?
Early support focuses on strengthening development, skills and confidence as concerns first emerge – or even before they become challenging. It is often gentle, short-term, and family-focused.
What if my child is doing “mostly okay”?
That’s okay too. Support doesn’t have to be about fixing something that’s wrong. It can be about building skills, confidence and routines to help your child (and family) feel more settled and supported.
What happens in sessions? Will my child be pushed?
No. Sessions are play-based, child-led and relationship-focused. We follow your child’s pace and interests, building trust first. Progress happens through connection, not pressure.
Do parents stay involved in sessions?
Yes. Families are central to everything we do. We work alongside parents and carers so strategies can be used confidently at home and in everyday routines.
Support Areas
What kinds of support do you offer?
We support a wide range of developmental and daily life areas, including:
- Eating, feeding and growth
- Sleep and regulation
- Communication and interaction
- Play, learning and development
- Toileting and daily routines
- Complex or medical needs
Support is always individualised and holistic.
Do you work with children with medical or complex needs?
Yes. We have extensive experience supporting children with medical complexities, including feeding tubes, medication considerations, and coordination with medical and allied health teams.
Funding & NDIS
Can I use my NDIS funding at GROW Paediatrics?
Yes. We support families who are self-managed or plan-managed under the NDIS. Our team can help you understand how your funding may be used.
What if my child doesn’t have NDIS funding?
You can still access services privately. We’re also happy to talk with you about funding pathways or options if you’re exploring NDIS eligibility.
Appointments & Practical Details
Where do appointments take place?
Appointments may take place at home, in our clinic or in the community setting such as the park, childcare, preschool or school — depending on your child’s needs.
How long are appointments?
Most sessions run for 45 minutes. Your therapist will recommend the most appropriate session length and frequency and collaborate with you and supports as needed.
Is there a waiting list?
Wait times vary depending on the type of support. We’ll always be transparent about availability and can place families on a cancellation list where possible.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We understand that family life can be unpredictable. We follow NDIS guidelines regarding cancellations and ask for as much notice as possible. Full details are provided in our service agreement.
After the First Appointment
What happens after our first session?
You’ll receive a clear summary of what was observed, what we’re working towards, and recommended next steps. We collaborate with you to decide what ongoing support looks like.
Do you work with childcare centres, schools or other professionals?
Yes. With your consent, we regularly collaborate with educators, health professionals and support teams to ensure consistent, coordinated care.
