FAQs for Professionals
Do children need a diagnosis to be referred to GROW Paediatrics?
No. A diagnosis is not required. We support children based on functional needs, developmental presentation and family concerns. Early support is encouraged, even when concerns are emerging or unclear.
What age groups and presentations does GROW Paediatrics support?
We support children from birth through to 18 years, with a strong focus on early childhood. Our work spans early development, regulation, communication, feeding, sleep, toileting, learning and complex or medical needs.
What makes GROW Paediatrics different from other services?
GROW Paediatrics provides holistic, multidisciplinary support, with clinicians experienced in complex care. We focus on early identification, whole-child development, and collaborative support for families and professionals.
Do you work with children who have complex needs or behaviours?
Yes. We regularly support children with complex presentations, including emotional regulation challenges, distress behaviours, sensory differences, communication needs, medical complexity and layered developmental profiles. Support is strengths-based and family-centred.
How does GROW Paediatrics support communication and interaction?
We support communication across all stages — from early interaction and language development to alternative and augmentative communication (AAC). Our approach prioritises understanding the child, supporting connection, and building functional communication in everyday contexts.
Do you collaborate with other professionals and educators?
Yes. With family consent, we actively collaborate with medical practitioners, educators, allied health professionals and support teams. This may include shared goal-setting, written summaries, reports and case discussions.
