Request Support for Oral Myology
How a Speech Therapist can help:
Jessie (Speech Pathologist | Director) is trainined in oral facial myology and supports children to develop strong, coordinated oral muscles needed for clear speech, safe feeding, healthy breathing and overall facial development. Through gentle, play-based exercises, oral myology helps children build the tongue, lip, jaw and facial strength and patterns that form the foundation for communication and eating.
At GROW Paediatrics, Jessie supports children from birth to 8 years by:
- Developing tongue, lip and jaw strength and coordination
- Supporting chewing, swallowing and early feeding skills
- Addressing mouth breathing, open-mouth posture and oral habits
- Improving speech clarity through better oral motor patterns
- Supporting recovery and function following tethered oral tissue (tongue/lip ties)
Everything we do is gentle, fun and tailored to your child’s individual needs, helping them build confident communication and feeding skills.
Our Approach
Jessie (Speech Pathologist | Director) uses evidence-informed techniques to strengthen and coordinate the muscles of the mouth and face, combining oral motor exercises with play, movement and functional activities so that therapy feels natural and enjoyable for children.
Our approach focuses on:
- Understanding the root cause of feeding or speech challenges
- Creating child-led, developmentally appropriate therapy plans
- Supporting whole-body regulation, posture and breathing
- Working closely with families to practise skills at home
- Collaborating with speech therapists, OTs, nurses, paediatricians and dental professionals
We look not only at the mouth, but at the whole child – breathing, sensory needs, posture and development – ensuring progress is meaningful and sustainable.
